The Wahkiakum Mule track season continues today (Thursday) with its only home meet at 3:30 at the high school track and field.
Last Thursday, the Mules traveled to Onalaska for a 2B league meet with three other schools. Both the girls and boys team placed fourth, the girls with 88 points and the boys with 51.5 points.
For the boys, Nevan Bingham took fourth in the 200 meters with a time of 26.40 seconds and fifth in the 400 meters with a time of 1:02.38. Carl Kolditz took second in the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 19.37 seconds and fourth in the 800 meters with a time of 2:35.83.
Ethan Cothren took third in the shot put with a throw of 35' 1". Koby Cothren won the javelin event with a toss of 133' 1". Ryan Quigley took fourth in the high jump, clearing 5' 2".
For the girls, Grace Peacock took third in the 100 meters with a time of 14.01 and second in the 200 meters with a time of 29.39. Cheyenne Barton wasn’t too far behind and took third in the event with a time of 29.88. Tyra Elliott won the 400 meters with a time of 1:09.58 and Rory Heywood took second in the 1600 meter race with a time of 6:30.81.
The 4x100 relay team of Elliott, Peacock, Shona Heywood and Barton took first with a time of 55.20. The 4x200 team of Rory Heywood, Barton, Shona Heywood and Elliott won with a time of 1:58.59.
Tarah Wisner took third in the shot put with a throw of 27-02. Shona Heywood took fourth with a throw of 24' 10". In the discus, Wisner took third with a toss of 68' 9". Rory Heywood won the high jump event, clearing 4' 10".
On March 20, the Mules traveled to Naselle for a Pacific League Meet and competed against five other teams. The boys earned 17 points and came in sixth place. The girls earned 51 points and came in fourth.
Bingham took fifth in the 100 meters with a time of 11.90 seconds. Kolditz finished in third place in the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 19.90. Cothren heaved to 35’ 05.50” for fifth place in the shot put and Dylan Hansen threw the discuss 90’ 2” for fourth place.
For the girls, Elliott and Barton took third and fourth respectively in the 100 meters, with times of 13.8 and 13.9. Elliott also placed third in the 400 meters with a time of 1:08.56. Rory Heywood finished the 800 meters in 2:52.09 and took third.
The relay team of Shona Heywood, Barton, Rory Heywood and Elliott took third in the 4x100 with a time of 56.38 and first in the 4x200 with a time of 1:57.90.
Tarah Wisner placed third in the shot put with a toss of 25’ 9” and Rory Heywood took second in the high jump, clearing 4’10”.
On March 22, the team traveled to Rainier to compete against 14 other teams in the “Icebreaker” Invitational. With 12 points, the boys found themselves in 14th place and the girls were 10th with 20 points.
Gunnar Blix placed fifth in the shot put with 41’ 6” and second in discus with a 124’07” toss.
Elliott took fourth in the 400 meters with a time of 1:08.46 and the relay team placed fifth with a time of 56.44.
Rory Heywood took first in the high jump, once again clearing 4’ 10”.
