Michael Edward Brusco, Sr. of Longview passed away on Friday March 14, 2014 at the age of 76.
Mike was born on March 12, 1938 in Longview to Julius and Mary Rose (Amato) Brusco. Mike was a tugboat Captain on the Columbia River for over 50 years and never retired. He was highly respected for his strong work ethic and knowledge of the river he loved. He was raised in Rainier Oregon and graduated from Rainier High School in 1956. On October 4, 1956 he married Jeanette Salo.
Jeanette survives him after 57 years of marriage. They had five children Micheal Brusco, Jr (Bambi), Theresa Kehrli (Alan), Susan Davis (Eddie), Annette Johnson (Bobby) and a son Ronald who preceded him in death. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren Nickolus, Rachel, Steven, Krista, Samantha, Jeremiah, Jaclyn, Elizabet, William, Shayla and Cory, five great grandchildren Kimberly, Kasey, Mason, Carson and Ella. Mike leaves behind a large extended family. He was a man of high integrity, a huge heart and a passion for fishing and the outdoors. He deeply loved his wife, family and friends. His zest for life, sense of humor and infectious laugh will be greatly missed. A Celebration of Mike’s Life will be held at J.A.Wendt Elementary School in Cathlamet on Saturday April 5th at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Mike’s name to The Red Cross or USO. Dowling Funeral Home of Cathlamet is in charge of arrangements.
