Mule baseball team gains victories in early games

The Wahkiakum Mule baseball team beat the Comets in Naselle on Monday in five innings with a score of 12-1.

Starting pitcher Zach Brown struck out five, allowed one hit and one run and was given the win. Mason Mackey was on the mound for the next two innings and pitched well, according to Coach Kyle Hurley. Gunnar Blix came in for the save and “struck out the side in the fifth.”

Blix went three for three at bat with two doubles and three runs batted in. Brock Cothren hit a single and brought in two more runs. Brandon Burdick had one RBI. Joey Moore, Travis Wegdahl and Mason Mackey all contributed singles.

Last Thursday, the Mules split games with Onalaska at home, winning the first 5-3 and losing the second in five innings with a score of 0-17.

Blix pitched the entire first game and came away with the win.

The Mules play a doubleheader today (Thursday) at Mossyrock. They go to Clatskanie next Monday and to Adna on April 3.
