The Wahkiakum Mule golf team moved their intra-team match record to 9-0 with a 187-208 victory over the Adna Pirates on Monday.
A schedule change returned the Mules to Riverside Golf Course in Chehalis where they had played just four days earlier. Both teams improved their performance by 10 strokes.
Mule Austin Good, 40, was medalist in the 12 man field. Elliot Haney, 44, finished second, Zach Calvert, 51, was fourth, and first year player Brady LaBerge shot a match play personal best 52 and finished fifth.
Last Thursday, the Mules' four players shot 197 and moved their intra-team match record to 8-0 with wins over Adna 215, Willapa Valley incomplete, South Bend incomplete, and Raymond default.
As expected a golf match between the top two teams in the league, Wahkiakum and Willapa Valley, at Adna's Riveside Golf Course was a thriller. Willapa Valley had a 16 stroke lead when the number one, three and four players completed play.
With only the number two player from each team still on the course, Wahkiakum's Zach Calvert came in with a 46. He had a big lead on Valley's number two player Kyler Oblad who was going to shoot in the 70's but then disqualified himself. Austin Good, 42, finished second in the 18 man field; Calvert finished fourth, Elliot Haney 51, eighth, and Brady Laberge, 58, 12th.
The Mules' next match is today (Thursday) at Hawks Prairie GC in Lacy where they play home team NW Christian as well as Willapa Valley, Raymond and South Bend.
