Sheriff's Report, January 23, 2014

Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including:

January 13--9:01 a.m. A motorist reported a gray pickup was weaving all over SR 4 near Cathlamet; an officer made contact. 9:05 a.m. A caller said a tree had fallen on a power line along Steamboat Slough Road. 2:38 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a man with chest pain. 4:20 p.m. A caller reported receiving four bad checks.

January 14--7:46 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded aid a woman who had choked on a pill. 8:03 a.m. An officer responded to a report that a person had violated a restraining order. 12 noon: A caller reported an attempted scam by mail. 4:24 p.m. A caller reported someone had stolen approximately 30 gallons of fuel from a van parked at an Elochoman Valley address; an officer investigated. 4:55 p.m. A caller reported two pit bulls were chasing cattle at an Elochoman Valley farm; the Humane Society was summoned to take the dogs into custody. 7:48 p.m. A motorist reported a vehicle had run off Beaver Creek Road; the vehicle was gone when an officer arrived.

January 15--5:37 a.m. A Schraum Road resident reported a power outage. 11:12 a.m. An East Valley Road resident reported speeding log trucks. 4:34 p.m. A caller reported that someone had unsuccessfully tried to break into a shed at the Elochoman Valley address where fuel had been reported stolen the previous day.

January 16--8:15 a.m. A caller reported a 32- foot boat was sinking at a West Little Island Road address. 12:09 p.m. The Grays River ambulance responded to aid a woman who was very ill.

January 17--2:27 p.m. A Cathlamet resident reported someone had entered her residence while she was out. 2:41 p.m. A caller reported logging trucks were speeding on East Vallley Road; the caller was advised that an officer would make a patrol when available. 4:39 p.m. A motorist reported that someone had apparently abandoned a white van on SR 4 near Cathlamet. 5:09 p.m. An officer took a driver into custody after stopping his vehicle on SR 4. 5:27 p.m. A caller advised officers that juveniles were planning a drinking party. 8:31 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a man who had fallen.

January 18--1:22 p.m. A Waranka Road resident reported someone had stolen some tire rims. 2:11 p.m. A caller reported someone was shooting a gun in the no firing zone of the Elochoman Valley; an officer investigated and learned that the caller was engaging in target practice allowed under the shooting zone ordinance. 6:34 p.m. A caller reported being harassed via email; at 7:47 p.m., the caller reported that the person doing the harassment had come to the caller's residence. 9:40 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a woman who had severe pain.

January 19--10:57 a.m. Fire District 4 reported people were camping on their property without permission; the people were relocated. 3:44 p.m. A caller reported people were camping on their property east of Cathlamet without permission; an officer made contact. 4:41 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a woman who had stopped breathing; she was revived and taken to a hospital. 5:05 p.m. A caller reported a gurney had damaged a parked vehicle during an ambulance call; an officer investigated. 11:54 p.m. The Grays River ambulance responded to aid a woman with chest pain and breathing trouble.
