Mule wrestlers compete at Hoquiam

Mule Wrestlers made the trip to Hoquiam this Saturday to participate in the Grizzlies tournament. It was a large 15 team tournament with 2B through 3A schools attending. Once again all four Mules that wrestled placed in the top three.

Luke Stacey at 132-lbs. placed 3rd. Luke’s first two matches were wins by pins against Cashmere and Mark Morris. Match three was a loss to Montesano by a pin. Luke won his match for 3rd place against Lincoln with a pin.

Alex Johnson at 145-lbs. placed 2nd. Match one for Alex was a bye and then he won match two against a Rivers Ridge wrestler with a pin. The third match was a win by points 6-2 against a Montesano opponent. Alex’s championship match was with an Aberdeen wrestler and was a loss by pin.

Mason Mackey at 152-lbs. placed 3rd. Mason’s first match was also a bye and then a win by pin against Elma in the second match. Match three was a loss by points 10-7 to Rivers Ridge. The last match for 3rd place was a win against Aberdeen by points 9-4.

Trystan Mendez at 182-lbs. placed 3rd. Again match one was a bye and then a match two win with a pin against Elma. The third match was a loss by technical fall from a Lincoln wrestler. Trystan’s last match of the day was a win against Lincoln to place 3rd. The win was with a pin at the end of round 3 and the score was 19-18, Trystan down the point. This is the kind of battle that gives parents gray hair, but is also the sweetest victory.

Next Saturday, January 18, the Mules attend the Rubber Chicken tournament at Kalama.
