Established as The Skamokawa Eagle in 1891
On Friday, December 13, Naselle High School had six teams compete at the ESD 113 knowledge bowl meet at Grays Harbor College in Aberdeen. Forty seven teams from 10 different high schools participated at this event.
There were 16 teams from 1A schools Montesano, Elma, and Hoquiam. There were 19 teams from 2B schools Ocosta, North Beach, and South Bend. There were 12 teams from 1B schools Naselle, Willapa Valley, Wishkah, and Lake Quinault.
Naselle's team, "The Force" placed 5th overall and 1st among 1B teams, defeating Willapa Valley and the top Ocosta team in a tie breaker. The Force also placed 6th overall and 1st among 1B teams at the November meet.
The Force was comprised of co-captains Kyler Wulf and Emily Gjovik, Abigail Bennett, Brittany Waltemate, and Amethyst Wirkkala.
"Newton's Hipsters" placed 15th overall and 3rd among 1B schools and consisted of sisters Grace and Chloe Zimmerman and Selah Wulf. The next knowledge bowl meet will be on January 9 in Olympia to be followed by the regional meet for The Force in early February in Tumwater.
