Sheriff's Report, December 12, 2013

Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including:

December 2 – 10:38 a.m. Cowlitz County requested assistance in locating a vehicle. The driver was reported to be suicidal; deputies were unable to locate. 4:05 p.m. A caller reported a violation of a protection order; a deputy advised. 6:05 p.m. A caller reported that an unlit boat was heading toward the shipping channel; the Coast Guard advised. 10:18 p.m. A caller reported a dead raccoon in the roadway on SR 4 just east of Nassa Point; state patrol advised.

December 3 – 8:53 a.m. A caller requested a welfare check on a neighbor in Cathlamet; a family member was located and agreed to check on the resident. 11:37 a.m. A caller reported possible witness tampering; a deputy was advised. 12:40 p.m. A Rosburg resident reported that he was unable to retrieve a personal item on a friend’s property due to a dispute and requested assistance; a deputy advised. 1:19 p.m. A caller reported a disabled vehicle on SR 4 at the eastern base of KM; a towing company was notified.

December 4 – 9:10 a.m. A caller was concerned that a driver had parked his vehicle in an unsafe position to camp on Puget Island and wanted a welfare check. 9:59 a.m. A West Valley resident requested assistance for a restraining order violation. 11:08 a.m. A Puget Island resident reported the theft of a stereo and amps. 1:01 p.m. A Cathlamet resident reported that a juvenile had been peeping; a deputy responded. 4:36 p.m. A fire alarm was activated at a Cathlamet residence; the Cathlamet fire department responded. 9:47 p.m. A caller complained about noise coming from the city dock; a deputy advised. 11:49 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a Rosedale resident.

December 5 – 3:17 a.m. A caller reported an erratic driver on SR 4 headed east from Cathlamet; state patrol advised. 8:14 a.m. A caller reported that the door to the house at the KM transfer station was open and was concerned there had been a break in. 8:56 a.m. A Deep River resident reported that elk hunters were trespassing and the dispute was escalating. 11:55 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a Cathlamet resident who was having trouble breathing. District 4 fire department prepared landing zone for Life Flight at Mill Creek Road. 5:13 p.m. A caller reported an animal dying due to a collision on Puget Island; a deputy responded. 5:55 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to the fire hall to aid someone who was having a seizure. 6:12 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid an Elochoman Valley resident who was having trouble breathing and experiencing chest pain. 7:15 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a Cathlamet resident who was having an allergic reaction. 8:42 p.m. A caller reported a domestic disturbance at a Cathlamet residence; deputies responded and took one into custody. A domestic violence advocate was notified.

December 6 – 1:24 a.m. The alarm for the downtown ATM was activated. 2:00 a.m. The newspaper deliverer was concerned about an alarm he had heard ringing at a Cathlamet home. He had attempted to wake resident; a deputy responded and was able to make contact with resident. The deputy and resident never heard an alarm. 7:36 a.m. A vehicle went into the ditch on SR 4 near the entrance to Cathlamet; state patrol advised and a tow truck was on scene. 8:07 a.m. A vehicle went into the ditch on SR 4 near the entrance to school in Cathlamet; state patrol advised. 8:50 a.m. A caller reported a vehicle in the ditch in the Elochoman Valley. 3:27 p.m. A caller reported a possible gas leak; a deputy responded. The furnace company was en route. 4:16 p.m. An Alger Creek resident reported a loose llama in her yard. 5:39 p.m. A Cathlamet business reported that their boiler was smoking; the Cathlamet fire department, the Cathlamet ambulance and deputies responded. 8:14 p.m. A caller reported a domestic disturbance in the Elochoman Valley; deputies responded.

December 7 – 12:01 p.m. A caller reported that Jacobsen Road was a sheet of ice .; the county road department was notified. 1:31 p.m. The burglar alarm was activated at a Cathlamet business; the owner was notified. 1:53 p.m. A caller reported an unlicensed driver was headed west on SR 4 from Stella; state patrol advised. 2:13 p.m. A caller reported a possible drunk driver on Puget Island. 2:33 p.m. A caller reported a broken water pipe had activated an alarm at the nursing home; the Cathlamet fire department responded. 5:45 p.m. A caller requested a welfare check on a Rosedale resident after receiving a distressing phone call. 8:15 p.m. A caller reported a vehicle with hazard lights flashing along the side of the road on SR west of Nassa Point; state patrol requested a welfare check.

December 8 – 4:56 a.m. The alarm on the downtown ATM was activated; a deputy responded and notified the security company responsible for the ATM. 12:33 p.m. A caller reported that he had been assaulted while being served papers; a deputy advised. 12:56 p.m. A Puget Island resident reported that water was flooding home; the PUD was notified. 6:56 p.m. A caller requested a welfare check on an elderly Rosedale resident; a deputy responded.
