Supporters of the Wahkiakum Christmas Stars Program will go door-to-door this week seeking cash donations to buy Christmas presents for children.
Coordinator Nova Lee Knopp said Wahkiakum High School students working with instructor Kyle Hurley will conduct the drive Friday, starting at 3:30 p.m., and Saturday, starting around 10:30 a.m.
The Star Program is a not-for-profit charity that helps children in Wahkiakum County who need assistance for Christmas, Knopp said.
People may find stars on trees in businesses; the stars list the child's needs and wishes. People take the stars, purchase the items, wrap them as presents, and return the items to the business.
The money that is collected will be used to purchase gifts for stars that aren't taken from the trees, which will come down December 13.
The trees are located at the Bank of America, Bank of the Pacific, the Duck Inn, Skamokawa General Store and the Rosburg Store. People may also leave cash donations in either bank.
