Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including:
November 18 – 2:52 p.m. A motorist reported rocks in the roadway on SR 4 near County Line Park; state patrol responded. 4:24 p.m. A caller reported an unoccupied vehicle was partially blocking the roadway in the Elochoman Valley; a deputy was advised, the owner was contacted and moved the vehicle. 7:27 p.m. A Middle Valley resident called to report an alarm going off at a nearby home; a deputy investigated, found the home secure and notified the owner. 9:25 p.m. A caller reported a tree down in the roadway in Grays River; county road crew responded. 10:47 p.m. A county road employee notified the sheriff’s office that there was a lot of water on roadways all over Grays River.
November 19 – 2:16 p.m. A caller reported an individual was driving while intoxicated on Puget Island. 3:08 p.m. A caller was concerned that marijuana was growing in the yard. 3:25 p.m. A caller reported that someone appeared to be digging into the dike on Puget Island; deputies responded. 4:44 p.m. A Rosedale resident reported water shooting out of a meter. 4:51 p.m. A caller reported the loss of an insulin pump at the Rosburg School; a deputy responded and was unable to locate the pump. 7:55 p.m. A deputy took a motorist into custody for an outstanding warrant.
November 20 – 12:35 p.m. A property owner was notified that people were trespassing and wanted deputies to look around while locks were being changed. 1:29 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to a Cathlamet residence to aid an elderly man who had fallen. 8:12 p.m. A caller from Rosburg reported some suspicious activity; a deputy was advised.
November 21 – 2:11 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid an elderly Rosedale resident with pain and numbness in leg and foot. 9:25 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a Rosedale resident with breathing problems. 10:10 a.m. The Grays River ambulance responded to aid a Grays River resident who was having a seizure. 10:36 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to the clinic to transport a patient with chest pain to the hospital. 4:56 p.m. A caller reported one vehicle was involved in a rollover accident in the Elochoman Valley. No injuries were reported. 7:08 p.m. A caller reported a vehicle was being driven erratically on SR 4 near Nassa Point. The vehicle was pulled over by a deputy and state patrol was advised. 8:59 p.m. A caller reported that a tractor and trailer were in the ditch on SR 4 in the Rosedale area; state patrol was advised.
November 22 – 9:51 a.m. USPS employees were concerned about a resident who had not picked up mail in months and requested a welfare check; subject was located and is out of town. 9:57 a.m. A caller reported that a high school student was selling cigarettes on school grounds. 2:26 p.m. A Puget Island resident reported that smoke was issuing from an electrical outlet; the Puget Island, Cathlamet and District 4 fire departments responded. 2:47 p.m. A caller reported a dispute with a threatening neighbor. 2:52 p.m. A caller reported a possible drunken driver on SR 4 near the Elochoman Bridge; deputies responded and were unable to locate the driver. 3:16 p.m. A caller reported that she had been assaulted by a family member; an advocate from domestic violence was notified. 5:00 p.m. A caller reported that a car had driven off the road on SR 4 into a telephone pole near Cathlamet; a deputy responded; the state patrol was advised, and a tow truck was dispatched. 10:37 p.m. A caller reported a large party and bonfire on Mill Creek Road; Cowlitz County was notified and were 30 minutes out. A deputy was advised.
November 23 – A burglar alarm was sounded at a Deep River residence; the alarm company called to cancel a response. It was a false alarm. 4:02 p.m. A Rosedale resident reported a dead deer in the back yard; Fish and Wildlife officers were notified. 10:05 p.m. The Grays River ambulance responded to aid an elderly resident who was having trouble breathing.
