Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including:
November 4 – 7:32 a.m. A caller reported that a power line in the Elochoman Valley was shooting sparks out of the ground; Bonneville and the local PUD were notified. 8:21 a.m. A caller reported a dead elk in the road near Grays River; Fish and Wildlife were notified. 1:35 p.m. A Rosburg resident reported that someone had broken into a home and stolen property; a deputy was advised. 1:42 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a Cathlamet resident who had overdosed. 1:51 p.m. A caller reported a vehicle blocking the road between SR 409 and Columbia St .; a deputy responded. 2:13 p.m. A caller requested a welfare check on a resident, whereabouts unknown. Resident was located at the clinic receiving care. 4:02 p.m. A caller reported finding an orange tabby without a collar at the Skamokawa end of the refuge. 7:10 p.m. A caller reported an injured deer on a Puget Island roadway; state patrol was notified. 9:11 p.m. A caller reported a missing hunter in the Middle Valley area; a deputy was notified and the hunter was able to walk out on his own.
November 5 – 2:40 p.m. A caller reported being threatened via text messages. 3:24 p.m. An East Valley resident reported the theft of a dog; the dog was later returned without explanation. A deputy will follow up. 4:19 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid an elderly Elochoman Valley resident who was not feeling well. 9:29 p.m. A caller reported finding an open door at a Rosedale business; a deputy responded.
November 6 – 9:53 a.m. A Cathlamet resident reported a possible theft; a deputy was advised. 12:15 p.m. A caller reported a suspicious man in a vehicle going back and forth between the refuge and a Skamokawa business; a deputy responded and was unable to locate the subject. 1:03 p.m. The school called to request assistance with a juvenile who was “out of control”; deputies responded. 1:23 p.m. A Grays River resident reported the theft of a wheelchair. 2:02 p.m. A Grays River resident reported that a family member was harassed by a person driving past the home; the subject did not stay in the location and a deputy was advised. 2:59 p.m. A caller reported that a vehicle heading westbound on SR 4 near Nassa Point was swerving all over the roadway; a deputy was advised.
November 7 – 1:41 p.m. A caller reported rocks on a Puget Island roadway. 3:12 p.m. A caller reported chickens in the roadway in the Rosedale area. 3:46 p.m. A caller reported that someone had withdrawn money from her bank account. 4:14 p.m. A caller reported teenagers looking for a ride on Greenwood Road. 5:19 p.m. A caller reported wood in the roadway on SR 4 just east of Cape Horn; the state patrol was notified. 6:26 p.m. A caller reported that a juvenile was missing and may have run away; subject was located. 8:42 p.m. A Grays River resident reported being harassed online.
November 8 – 1:16 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a diabetic Rosedale resident. 7:38 a.m. A Puget Island resident called to report that a vehicle alarm had been activated at a neighbor’s home. 7:48 a.m. A caller reported hearing shots fired on the refuge and that they had located a dead elk; fish and game were notified. 11:07 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a Puget Island resident who had fallen over while in an electric wheelchair. 11:20 a.m. A caller reported that two intimidating men in blue uniforms had come to their door in Grays River asking questions; a deputy contacted the caller. 12:27 p.m. A caller reported a tree across the roadway near Rosburg; the county road department was notified. 7:01 p.m. An Elochoman Valley resident reported that a truck had hit mailboxes near a home; a deputy was unable to locate the vehicle.
November 9 – 12:32 p.m. A caller reported seeing a small green boat adrift in the Columbia River near Mill Creek Road; Cowlitz County was notified. 2:50 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid an elderly Puget Island resident who was bleeding. 5:37 p.m. A caller reported that a vehicle had been stolen by a Rosedale resident; deputies were unable to locate the subject or the vehicle.
November 10 – 3:18 a.m. A Puget Island resident reported kids on property behind home; a deputy responded. 10:58 a.m. A caller reported finding doors open and a padlock missing at a Cathlamet business; nothing else appeared to be missing. 2:23 p.m. A Puget Island resident reported a dead deer in yard. 3:27 p.m. An alarm was activated at an east end home; a deputy responded and found all was secure. 3:35 p.m. A Rosedale resident reported aggressive dogs; a deputy responded and located the owners. 10:51 p.m. A caller reported that a woman in a hospital gown was sitting near the courthouse; a deputy located the subject and gave her a ride to her vehicle.
November 11 – 3:22 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a Cathlamet resident who was vomiting blood.
