Sheriff's Report, November 7, 2103

Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including:

October 28 – 6:09 a.m. A Cathlamet resident got locked out of their residence and requested a deputy to locate their spouse. When told that a deputy was not available, the caller hung up. The sheriff’s office called back and offered to contact a locksmith, but the resident had connected with their spouse. 9:40 a.m. A caller reported that a logging truck was speeding and using the jake brake in East Valley. 10:31 a.m. A Cathlamet resident reported a break in. 1:43 p.m. A caller reported that a vehicle had been speeding up and down a Rosedale road all day. 4:11 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a Cathlamet resident with breathing problems. 9:18 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a diabetic Rosedale resident with breathing problems.

October 29 – 11:38 a.m. The school reported a runaway. 1:27 p.m. A Rosedale resident reported the theft of a salmon net during the night. 3:38 p.m. A Puget Island resident reported the theft of an I beam and a drill press. 3:45 p.m. A caller reported that a subject has been seen drinking and driving past a Puget Island residence every day at the same time. 7:48 p.m. A Rosburg business called to report a possible hacking of their computer system.

October 30 -- 8:37 a.m. An alarm went off at a Puget Island residence; a deputy responded. 9:23 a.m. A caller reported a vehicle prowl and theft at a Cathlamet residence. 9:43 a.m. A West Valley resident called to report a break in. 10:04 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a West Valley resident with chest pain. 11:35 a.m. A caller reported a vehicle speeding on Columbia Street. 11:59 a.m. The Puget Island Fire Department helped pull a horse out of a ditch on Puget Island. 1:14 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to a Cathlamet business to aid an elderly woman who had fallen. 6:07 p.m. A Rosedale resident reported that a purse had been stolen from a vehicle during the night. 6:44 p.m. A Rosedale resident reported the theft of a wallet and bag. 7:38 p.m. A Cathlamet resident reported the theft of a chainsaw. 8:16 p.m. A Rosedale resident reported that an item had been stolen from a vehicle.

October 31 – 9:56 a.m. A Rosedale resident reported a vehicle prowl during the night. 11:59 a.m. A caller reported two people were doing an unauthorized inspection of a house in Glengate. 5:28 p.m. A caller reported a suspicious vehicle in the Deep River area. 6:08 p.m. A motorist reported that a passing driver shone a red laser light into his vehicle on SR 4 near Nassa Point; the subject, a juvenile, was located and taken into custody and then returned to parents. 9:15 p.m. The District Four, Cathlamet, Puget Island Fire Departments, the Cathlamet ambulance and the sheriff’s office responded to a garage fire on Beaver Creek Road. The PUD was notified of power and water outage.

November 1 – 7:46 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a Rosedale resident who was having difficulty breathing. 8:41 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid an elderly Cathlamet resident who was having a heart attack. 10:07 a.m. A caller reported that a vehicle had broken down in the roadway on SR 4 just east of Flandersville. 10:42 a.m. A West Valley resident reported domestic violence; deputies responded and took a subject into custody. 1:59 p.m. A caller reported a vehicle in the ditch in the Elochoman Valley. 2:02 p.m. An East Valley resident reported that someone was hunting on property without permission. 3:10 p.m. A caller reported that a juvenile had run away. 3:17 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a Rosedale resident with breathing problems. 7:51 p.m. A caller reported a vehicle traveling westbound on SR 4 at 40 mph without lights on; a deputy responded. 10:18 p.m. A caller reported a violation of a no contact order. 10:24 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to a Cathlamet residence where a child had injured his head in a fall.

November 2 – 4:37 a.m. An alarm was activated at a Skamokawa residence; a deputy responded and nothing appeared to be disturbed. 9:56 a.m. A caller reported a possible game violation. 10:56 a.m. A caller reported a downed tree on the roadway on Puget Island; the road crew responded. 11:20 a.m. A caller reported a branch on power lines in Cathlamet; the PUD was notified. 12:17 p.m. A caller reported a large tree branch on a power line and a power outage; the PUD responded. 3:35 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a Cathlamet resident with stomach pain. 8:25 p.m. An alarm was activated at a Rosedale Heights residence; a deputy responded and found a door that appeared to have blown open, but otherwise no disturbance. The homeowner called the next day to report that the door is difficult to open and that it could not have been the wind. A deputy made contact.

November 3 – 12:00 a.m. An alarm was activated at a Grays River residence; a deputy responded. 4:14 p.m. A caller reported shots being fired in Middle Valley on property where hunting is not allowed; the state patrol was notified. 4:24 p.m. A caller reported a missing hunter in the KM area; a deputy responded. A search party made up of friends and family found the hunter. 5:30 p.m. A caller reported hearing an argument during a phone call and requested a welfare check on a friend in the Elochoman Valley; a deputy requested backup and responded. A domestic violence advocate was notified. 5:42 p.m. A caller reported an erratic driver westbound on SR 4; the state patrol was notified.
