Mule volleyball team smacks Onalaska, Napavine

The Wahkiakum Mule volleyball team traveled to Onalaska last Thursday and beat the Loggerettes in four games, 25-14, 25-15, 21-25 and 25-15.

Coach Kayli Hurley singled out Kaylee Bryant and Kennedi LaBerge who had five kills apiece.

“We had a let up in game three,” Coach Hurley said, “and became a bit less efficient than we needed to be but were able to rebound and come back strong in the fourth to earn the win.”

With the home court advantage on Tuesday, the Mules beat Napavine in four games, 25-21, 19-25, 27-25 and 25-20.

Tyra Elliott averaged 2.38 out of 3.0 in passing and she had seven digs. Kennedi LaBerge had eight kills. Morgan Elliott had 30 assists, four kills and nine digs. Tori Wegdahl had 11 kills.

“It was a great team effort tonight as things have been shaken up a bit in the past week with our lineup,” Coach Hurley said. “Napavine is a scrappy team that keeps the ball off the floor, so we knew we would have to be aggressive and efficient tonight to pull off a win. The girls did a great job working together and getting the job done.”

The Mules head to Morton/White Pass today (Thursday) and close out the regular season Monday when league-leading Toutle Lake comes to Cathlamet. District tournament play starts November 5.
