Robert W. Olsen

Robert W. “Bobby” Olsen, 57, of Cathlamet, died in Craig, Colorado on October 17th. Bobby died doing what he loved, hunting with his family, on an annual trip they have taken together for 25 years.

He was born to Robert and Vivian (Wika) Olsen in Portland on April 6, 1956. He lived his entire life in Cathlamet graduating from Wahkiakum High School in 1974. He married Donna Giddings on December 21, 1985.

Bobby was the owner of Robert Olsen Logging since 1985, enjoying his work and working alongside his son. Bobby was passionate about the outdoors. He loved to hunt, fish and clam dig with family and friends. Bobby cherished his relationships with his children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was an avid Mules fan, enjoyed coaching youth baseball and supporting local athletics. He and Donna’s home and property on Puget Island were very important to him. He loved his “hobby farm” where they lived for 19 years.

Bobby is survived by his wife Donna, a son Brandon and his significant other, Aztell McGee, a daughter Angela Metcalf and husband Brandon, a brother Bill Olsen and wife, Shelley, a sister Beckie Wolcott and husband, Don, his parents Bob and Vivian Olsen, his mother-in-law and her husband, Marianne and Jon Peterson, granddaughters Cheyenne and Hadley Metcalf, nieces and nephews D.J. Wolcott and wife Jennifer, Cody, Brieanna and Baylee Olsen. He is also survived by a brother-in-law, John Giddings and sister-in-law Anita and her husband, Joe Warner and dear friends Vera and Gordon Oman. Bobby leaves behind a large extended family and many friends including his four legged friend Sadie. He was preceded by his good friend and employee Randy Oman.

A visitation will be held at Dowling Funeral Home on Thursday from 4 p.m. – 7 p.m. A Memorial Gathering will be held on Saturday, October 26th at 3 p.m. at The Olsen Man Cave at 259 W. Little Island Rd., a time for supporting Bobby’s family and sharing memories. Casual attire is requested along with Bobby stories.
