Mule volleyball team drops two league opponents

The Wahkiakum Mule volleyball team had many wins in a busy week.

The Mules traveled to Mossyrock for a league match last Thursday and won in four games, 26-24, 14-25, 25-19 and 25-23.

Baylee Olsen had nine kills and one block, Tori Wegdahl had 13 kills. According to Coach Kayli Hurley, Morgan Elliott played “awesome defense” and came up with 33 assists as setter.

“It was a hard fought win, Hurley said, “one that could have some heavy implications at the end of league play.”

On Saturday, the Mules competed in the R.A. Long Tourney in Longview.

In pool play, they beat Onalaska 25-12, 25-15 and 25-17. Wegdahl passed 2.4 out of 3 and had 10 kills. Jem Dyer passed 2.0 out of 3.

They beat R.A. Long 25-12, 25-15 and 25-17. Olsen had 10 kills, Maya Stanley had six digs and Kaylee Bryant had a 0.667 hitting efficiency.

They then faced Montesano and lost 21-25 and 20-25. Olsen and Wegdahl had five kills each.

Tuesday evening, the Mules faced Winlock in a league match at home. The Mules took the win in three games, scoring 25-12, 25-11 and 25-7. Madison LaBerge had five kills and served 100 percent. Tyra Elliott served for 13 points and Grace Peacock had a 2.0 out of 3 passing average.

The Mules are 7-1 overall, 2-0 in league and face the Pirates in Adna tonight.
