Established as The Skamokawa Eagle in 1891
On September 14 the Tsuga Gallery hosted a one-day workshop on acrylic painting by Corrine Loomis-Dietz. She is from the Salem, Ore. area and has gained recognition as a painter and art educator.
Her workshop was attended by a wide range of students, from young beginners to retired enthusiasts. Subjects included safe studio practices, secrets to cleanly mix colors and keep them vibrant, and the wide range of effects available by the use of various mediums and gels.
Each participant received a packet of paints and mediums, as well as color charts and reference information. It was a hands on experience as the different techniques were explored.
Loomis-Dietz has taught painting, color design and photography as an adjunct in regional colleges and universities since the early 1980s. Since 1999 she has been a certified member of the Working Artist team with Golden Artist Colors, receiving intensive training in artist pigments, acrylic paint systems and contemporary developments for mixed media. She is a featured artist in a North Light book, “Rethinking Acrylics,” by Patti Brady.
The Gallery is working on providing more workshops from experienced professionals and will provide information as it becomes available.
