Established as The Skamokawa Eagle in 1891
A dedicated and helping hand, and more, to the community is Bob Adams, Puget Island. Bob had the idea and commitment that he would use his time and gardening skills to help the less fortunate in Wahkiakum County.
Bob started early this spring in growing a large number of vegetable plants from seeds. In fact, when it came time to transfer these seedlings, there were too many. So Bob did another gracious gesture; he gave many plant starts away.
Since about the first of July, his efforts in producing a large vegetable crop have come to fruition. Every Monday Bob has provided from 65-100 pounds of vegetables for distribution through our two local food banks. In these past few months, he has continually provided a large variety of tomatoes, beans, cucumbers, and cabbage and egg plant.
Another interesting crop Bob has grown is a large variety of hot peppers, some too hot to touch, much less eat!
While he continues to provide a steady supply of these vegetables, soon he will also be providing a large variety of squash.
In summary, Bob is a person who cares about others. He gives his time and effort for others to share in the great vegetables that can be locally grown. Bob is a gift to the community. Thanks, Bob
