Fall seems to be in the air, at least in the morning hours. Night temperatures have been comfortable, though. Guess it’s time to make plans for the rainy season once again. It will be nice to watch the leaves begin to turn and fall. Actually, this is my favorite season of the year.

On Sunday, September 29, the congregation of the Grays River United Methodist Church will host a farewell brunch for Pastor Pam Brokaw. Pam moves on in her duties as a pastor to Castle Rock and Winlock Methodist Churches. She will be sorely missed as she has befriended many people in this community. The brunch will be served following the 10 a.m. worship service. Anyone wishing to attend the brunch is welcome in wishing her well in her new assignments and to let her know she has been a special part of our community. Best of luck to you, Pastor Brokaw.
Unfortunately, the Grays River Valley Library and Community Computer Center is still closed, as we didn’t get the volunteer response we had hoped for last weekend. The good news is, thanks to the old standby volunteers, we will reopen on Monday, the 23rd with our regular hours from 3-7 p.m. With school back in session, and with some other activities ongoing, the dance studio in particular, we are planning to increase our hours to accommodate the mothers and other children with an open library and computer center for their convenience, as well as the rest of the community. When the online college classes begin, our schedule may be altered to fulfill the student’s needs. Please bear with us, and if you can spare a few hours a week as a volunteer, please contact me, Randy Collver or Penny Gregory.
One more delay at the Grays River Valley Center, the free Friday Night Movie will not be shown this week as we are still waiting for some essential equipment to be installed. We will continue our movie schedule next week on the 28th, with a family friendly show. Bring the kids. Concessions are available with popcorn, candy, pop and coffee. For more info or to find out what movie is playing please call 465-2310.

We are looking forward to a short visit from some friends from California sometime this week. Harold and Laura Holland have been longtime friends and he also worked with Del for the City of Stockton for many years, but has recently retired. Both very talented folks, she does some beautiful ceramic work and he is an old car buff and an avid gardener, which means they are always busy. It will be really nice to get caught up on what’s going on with them.
