David Layne Vik, 40, of Cathlamet, died at home on August 11. David was born on June 27,1973 in Longview to Philip and IvyLou Vik.
Growing up on Puget Island, he had a love of the river and time spent on the water. He graduated from Wahkiakum High School in 1992. David was active in FFA and 4-H, showing his Brown Swiss cows at county fairs and the State Fair. He loved operating farm equipment when he was too young and too small. David was an avid reader and especially enjoyed books on WWII history.
He was a well loved son, brother, uncle and friend with a ready smile for everyone! He is survived by his parents, Philip and IvyLou Vik; two brothers, Jeff Vik and Kevin Vik (Lacey and Colton Woodside); a sister, Danette Traver (Jeff); grandparents, Arthur Vik, and Louie and Ivy Fontana; five nephews, Jeffrey, Mitchell and Kody Vik, and Tyler and Lane Traver; a niece, Anastacia Vik; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Funeral services have been held. Memorial donations in David’s name may be made to Camp Goodtimes @ http://www.campgoodtimeswest or Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church, 549 SR 409, Cathlamet,WA 98612. Dowling Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
