Sheriff's Report - August 1, 2013

Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including:

July 22-- 10:25 a.m. Deputies and the Cathlamet ambulance responded to the scene of a one-car non-injury motor vehicle accident. One person was taken into custody. 11:16 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a subject whose medical alarm had activated. 11:43 a.m. A Puget Island resident reported that he had found a black and white terrier. The dog was reunited with its owner later that day. 12:20 p.m. A caller reported that she had been chased by multiple dogs while riding her bicycle two days previously. 2:46 p.m. A caller reported a domestic violence incident. One person was taken into custody. 6:13 p.m. A caller reported possible drug activity. 6:33 p.m. A caller reported a disturbance on the street. A deputy checked the area, but found no one. 8:40 p.m. A caller reported an injured bird at Vista Park. 9:07 p.m. The Grays River ambulance responded to aid a 46-year-old man having a seizure.

July 23-- 7:06 a.m. A caller requested a welfare check on a family member with health issues. The Cathlamet ambulance transported the man to a hospital. 3:05 p.m. A caller reported a burglary had occurred the previous day. 3:47 p.m. A caller reported being harassed by telephone. 6:32 p.m. Deputies and the Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a woman found lying on the sidewalk. 8:21 p.m. A caller reported seeing a man walking westbound along SR4 who was possibly in need of assistance. A deputy made contact and gave the man a courtesy transport to the Pacific County Line.

July 24-- 1:15 a.m. A caller requested an escort to her home after seeing a suspicious man lying alongside the road. State Patrol responded. 9:04 a.m. A caller reported a transient campsite. 3:05 p.m. Law enforcement, the Cathlamet ambulance, and a domestic violence victim advocate responded to a report of two juvenile males fighting with each other. 8:40 p.m. A caller requested a welfare check on a family member.

July 25-- 10:18 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid someone whose medical alarm had accidentally activated. 10:53 a.m. A caller reported that they had hit a deer on Altoona - Pillar Rock Road. The Department of Fish & Wildlife was notified. 12:19 p.m. A caller reported that a door was open at the home of a neighbor that was out of town. 12:47 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a child with a severe headache. 1:27 p.m. A caller reported that a door on a residence appeared to have been kicked in. 3:10 p.m. A caller reported being harassed by a juvenile boy at Erickson Park. 4:14 p.m. A caller reported that beef cattle were loose on SR 409. 6:00 p.m. A caller reported seeing a suspicious man walking along SR4 near Salme Hill. State Patrol was notified. 7:49 p.m. A caller reported a case of attempted telephone fraud. 9:00 p.m. Several callers reported concerns about a pedestrian walking down SR4. State Patrol was notified. 9:41 p.m. A caller reported that a calf was loose on Elochoman Valley Road. The animal's owner was contacted.

July 26-- 4:48 a.m. The Grays River ambulance responded to aid a 76-year-old man with breathing difficulty. 9:04 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a 61-year-old man with chest pain. 10:28 a.m. A caller reported a domestic dispute that had occurred two days previously. A deputy investigated. 1:10 p.m. A caller reported that someone had broken into his home and stolen a shotgun and three rifles within the past week. 4:16 p.m. A caller reported that a branch was partially blocking the eastbound lane of SR4 east of Flandersville. State Patrol responded. 7:53 p.m. A caller reported finding a bicycle near the Elochoman hatchery. 9:17 p.m. A caller reported ongoing problems with juveniles trespassing on his property. 10:15 p.m. A deputy made contact with a subject at Hornstra's Beach and informed them that overnight camping was not permitted. 10:54 p.m. A caller reported a person walking down SR4 was difficult to see due to dark clothing. A deputy made contact and found that the subject was walking only a short way.

July 27-- 10:07 a.m. A caller reported hearing noises at a vacant neighboring residence. 10:16 a.m. A caller reported that someone had broken a window of his tractor earlier in the morning. A deputy investigated. 11:46 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to treat a man who had had an allergic reaction to food.

July 28-- 6:51 a.m. A caller reported a domestic violence incident. 5:30 p.m. A caller reported that a lawn mower had not been returned as scheduled and requested deputy contact. A deputy spoke with the parties, who arranged to exchange the lawn mower. 6:20 p.m. A caller reported that he and his wife had been attacked by approximately six dogs while walking down the road, and that his wife had been bitten. A deputy took a report and contacted the dog's owner.

July 29-- 9:05 a.m. A caller reported that their vehicle had been vandalized. 9:16 a.m. A brush fire was reported on West Sunny Sands Road. 3:03 p.m. Deputies and Human Services staff performed a welfare check on an elderly man.
