JA Wendt Elementary School Playground Clean-up Project

This Saturday, August 3 from 9 a.m. to lunchtime, the Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) has organized a volunteer clean-up project for the JA Wendt Elementary School Playground. Activities include re-painting all hopscotch, 4-square and basketball court lines as well as some areas on the large playground structure. Bark dust also needs to be raked while others can work on litter patrol. All paint will be provided but the PTO asks volunteers to bring any spare paintbrushes or rakes. Volunteers of all ages are welcome to attend with a light lunch served at the end of the clean–up.

Family Health Center School Supplies Drive

To celebrate National Health Center Week and demonstrate their commitment to our community, the Family Health Center is hosting a school supply drive for the Wahkiakum School District. The drive runs from Monday, July 22 through to Friday, August 16. Items can be dropped off at the Family Health Center located at 335 Una Avenue in Cathlamet or be collected. Big Red Barn Now Offering Pet Grooming

The Big Red Barn Antique Store has expanded its business and is now offering pet grooming services. Located in the shed next to the Antique Store on Puget Island, the new grooming facility offers appointments Wednesday through Saturday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Operated by Cindy Burke and her daughter Brittney Balch, Mrs. Burke attended the Tara Lara K-9 Academy in Oregon City for her training before moving onto massage therapy. For the last 20 years she’s worked as a Companion Animal Hygienist and is excited to work alongside her daughter. To make your appointment, call 360-849-4700.

Deege Insurance & Financial Services Changes Hours

In an effort to better serve their customers, the Cathlamet branch of Deege Insurance and Financial Services has expanded its hours of operation. Located just off of Main Street at 100 Chester Avenue, the office is now open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. with lunch scheduled between 1-1:30 p.m. Evening and home appointments are also available by request. Two Islands Farm Market Hosts “Open Mic” Session

This Friday, August 2, from 3 to 6 p.m., the Two Islands Farm Market will host an “Open Mic” session. Musicians of all ages and skill levels are invited to show off their talents on the Up-Beet Stage. If you’re interested in performing, contact Rob Stockhouse at 849-4145.
