Established as The Skamokawa Eagle in 1891
The Birnie Slough River Rats’ float entry was named the grand prize winner of the 2013 Bald Eagle Day parade.
The parade was led off by fire trucks and ambulances from local departments, a delegation from the Wahkiakum County Sheriff’s Office and the VFW Post 5297 color guard.
Parade Grand Marshal was Stephanie Olsen of Puget Island, who was honored for many years of service to the community through her work in the funeral industry. She rode in a Chevrolet Corvette.
Cathlamet Woman's Club Citizen of the Year Wally Wright rode in a 1938 Ford fire engine. It was the same engine that Wright, a 49-year veteran of the Cathlamet Fire Department, rode in when he responded to his first fire at age 16.
