Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including:
July 8—11:54 a.m. A caller reported that a ladder had been stolen from her residence after someone had threatened to remove it. 12:03 p.m. A caller reported that cash had been taken from a wallet and a fraudulent charge had been made on a credit card. 4:09 p.m. A water outage was reported. The city water department was notified. 5:32 p.m. A caller reported colored water was coming from their tap. The city water department was notified.
July 9—12:54 p.m. Keys that had been found along Clover Street were turned in to the Sheriff’s Office. 1:37 p.m. A caller reported a trespasser. 4:36 p.m. A bag containing keys, medications and a wallet that had been found near the former Shell station was turned in to the Sheriff’s Office. 5:23 p.m. A caller reported that a laptop computer had been stolen. A deputy investigated. 10:35 p.m. A caller reported almost hitting a possibly intoxicated pedestrian walking east along SR4 on the west side of KM Mountain. State Patrol was advised.
July 10—8:39 a.m. A caller reported that someone may have attempted to steal the tailgate off the caller’s truck the previous night, as the caller had heard suspicious noises and the tailgate was now making a binding noise on opening. 10:06 a.m. A caller reported rocks on the roadway of SR4 just west of Skamokawa. State Patrol was notified. 12:58 p.m. Possible drug activity was reported. 3:32 p.m. One person was taken into custody on a warrant for driving with a suspended license after a traffic stop on Welcome Slough Road. 3:54 p.m. A caller reported that a relative was throwing property and acting aggressively. 5:04 p.m. A caller requested law enforcement assistance with a possible mental health issue. 6:58 p.m. A deputy and the Cathlamet ambulance responded to a single car motor vehicle accident east of Skamokawa along SR4. 8:29 p.m. A caller reported finding evidence that people were squatting under a family member’s residence. 10:34 p.m. One person was taken into custody after a deputy responded to the scene of a domestic disturbance.
July 11—12:02 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a 61-year-old man experiencing chest pain. 8:43 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a man who had had a heart attack. The man’s obituary appears elsewhere in the paper. 12:36 p.m. District 4 firefighters responded to a brush fire along Greenwood Road. 6:09 p.m. The Grays River ambulance responded to transport a man experiencing a mental health emergency to a hospital. 6:51 p.m. A caller reported that a man who appeared to be intoxicated had come to her door stating that he was lost. A deputy checked the area but was unable to locate the man.
July 12—8:24 a.m. A caller reported a trespasser. 8:39 a.m. A caller reported that a suspicious person was parked in a driveway staring into a house. 9:06 a.m. A deputy transported an agitated, suicidal subject to a hospital. 10:29 a.m. A caller reported a two-car non-injury motor vehicle accident along Altoona-Pillar Rock Road. 3:56 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a 76-year-old woman who had fallen and was in respiratory distress. The patient was transported to a hospital via LifeFlight. 6:54 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a 74-year-old woman who had fallen. 7:52 p.m. A caller reported talking with a suspicious person. 9:18 p.m. A caller reported that nearby campers were playing music loudly.
July 13—1:47 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a 96-year-old man who had fallen and was bleeding. 2:40 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance reported seeing two pedestrians walking eastbound along SR4 near the Cowlitz County line. State Patrol was notified. 11:02 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a 30-year-old woman who had fallen. The patient was transported via LifeFlight. 4:27 p.m. A caller reported a domestic disturbance. 6:16 p.m. A caller reported that her dog had disappeared from an unlocked car parked at a gas station. The dog was later reunited with its owner.
July 14—7:30 a.m. One person was taken into custody on a misdemeanor warrant after a traffic stop on SR4 west of Cathlamet. 3:25 p.m. A water outage was reported. The city water department was notified. 5:13 p.m. Deputies took one person into custody on a warrant.
July 15—3:26 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a man who was ill. 4:24 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance reported being passed by a vehicle traveling unsafely at a high rate of speed. State Patrol was notified.
