Seniors vouchers available for Farmer’s Market

Wahkiakum seniors will have the opportunity to receive Senior Farmer’s Market Vouchers this year at a final distribution at the Senior Community Lunch held at the Cathlamet Congregational Church located at 3rd and Maple on July 25. Vouchers will be available for pick-up between 11am and 1pm on a first come, first served basis.

Eligible seniors are individuals age 60 and older, or age 55 and older if Native American or Alaska Native Elder with a monthly income of $1,771 or less if single, and $2,391 or less in a two person household, and a resident of Washington State. Bring picture identification to show date of birth and Washington State residency; income verification is not required. A Washington State-issued picture ID or Driver’s License are acceptable forms of identification. Proxy forms to designate an individual to pick-up vouchers for an eligible person unable to attend the distribution will be available at the CAP office and must be filled out and have a copy of ID attached prior to distribution.

Eligible seniors will receive $40 worth of vouchers that can be used to buy fresh fruits, vegetables and edible herbs at participating farmers’ markets including Two Islands Farm Market. Vouchers are good through October 31, 2013.

The vouchers are funded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, and administered locally by Lower Columbia CAP in partnership with the Area Agency on Aging and Disabilities of Southwest Washington.
