Sheriff: Contact him with praise, complaints

To The Eagle:

In keeping with my open door policy to the public and staff, I want to encourage people to call me or stop by and talk with me whenever they have a praise or a complaint about the sheriff’s office.

Along with the sheriff’s core values of “service with integrity and respect,” I want to add that we constantly strive to be fair in all we do. If you see or experience a deputy or sheriff's office employee exhibit extraordinary service or professionalism on the job please let me know. Praise goes a long way in the public service sector.

On the contrary, I have heard second hand at times how a person was unhappy with the way an employee treated them. I want to encourage people to bring their complaints or concerns directly to me. I am accountable to you, and in order for us to improve as public servants, I need to hear the feedback directly. The sheriff’s office can’t do the job alone, and we want to have as many partners in the community as we can to provide the best service as possible and keep our county safe.

Mark Howie

Wahkiakum County Sheriff
