Marjorie Fay Burns passed away at her home on Puget Island on Sunday, July 7. She was born on April 11, 1928 in Polson, Montana, to George and Elizabeth Fryberger. Marge married Robert Burns in 1950. They moved to Portland in 1957 and raised their family there. They retired on Puget Island in the early eighties.
Marge loved spending time with her family and she and Bob enjoyed many lovely trips together. She was passionate about tennis and music. In later years she enjoyed sailing with her companion and friend Dr. Arthur Hauge.
She is survived by daughters Cindy Burns, Claudia Carani and Paulette Romtvedt, sons Bill Burns and Mike Burns, sisters Zoe Luthy and Mary Smith and a brother Joe Fryberger as well as eight grandchildren, two great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Bob in 1999, and brothers Ralph, Dan and Stuart Fryberger.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, July 22, from 5 to 9 p.m. in the Sapphire Room at The Indigo at Twelve West, 430 SW 13th Ave., Portland, Ore. Parking is available off 12th Street.
Memorial donations may be made in Marge’s name to any charity of choice. Dowling Funeral Home of Cathlamet is in charge of arrangements.
