Kiwanis 14th Annual Youth Scholarship Golf Tournament
This Saturday (July 13) marks the 14th annual Youth Scholarship Kiwanis Golf tournament held at the Skyline Golf Course in Cathlamet. Teams of four are invited to compete for cash and other prizes. Come and watch the teams or test your skills in the special KP and longest drive games. All proceeds go to the Kiwanis Youth Scholarship Fund. Appelo Archives Center opens new “Hope in Hard Times” exhibit
On Sunday the Appelo Archives Center will be holding an Opening Reception for their new exhibit “Hope in Hard Times” looking at Washington State during the Great Depression. The exhibit explores the adversity and triumph of everyday Americans, comparing the struggles of the 1930s with those faced today. Norse Hall Bingo moved to Saturday, July 20
The Norse Hall will be hosting bingo next Saturday, July 20, during the Bald Eagle Days festival. The doors open at 5:30 with bingo running from 6-8 p.m. Each card is $5 with all proceeds going to the Norse Hall Building Fund.
Tsuga Gallery offers writing workshop for kids
Local writer Shawn Deal has teamed up with the Tsuga Gallery for a special “Creative Writing for Kids” class scheduled for July 25 from 1-4 p.m. The class is open to children ages 12-18 and costs $10 per child. This is an introduction workshop, teaching children the skills and exercises that will help them to become good writers. Deal has been writing for 30 years and is a published artist. He is currently working on a novel for kids. To register your child’s place, stop by the Tsuga Gallery at 70 Main Street.
