Wahkiakum seniors will have the opportunity to receive Senior Farmer’s Market Vouchers this year at a distribution held at the Two Island Farmer’s Market, located at 59 W. Birnie Slough Rd, Cathlamet on June 21.
Distribution will begin at 3 p.m. by Lower Columbia CAP’s Senior Nutrition Program personnel.
The vouchers are funded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, and administered locally by Lower Columbia CAP in partnership with the Southwest Washington Area Agency on Aging and Disabilities.
Eligible seniors are individuals age 60 and older, or age 55 and older if Native American or Alaska Native Elder with a monthly income of $1,771 or less if single, and $2,391 or less in a two person household, and a resident of Washington State.
Applicants will be asked for picture identification to show date of birth and Washington State residency. They will not be asked for income verification.
A Washington State issued picture ID or driver’s license are acceptable forms of identification. Proxy forms to designate an individual to pick-up vouchers for an eligible person unable to attend the distribution will be available at the CAP office beginning June 3.
Vouchers will be distributed on a first come, first served basis.
Eligible seniors will receive $40 worth of vouchers that can be used to buy fresh fruits, vegetables and edible herbs at participating farmers’ markets.
