Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including:
May 13— 3:41 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a 74-year-old man with breathing difficulties. 5:42 p.m. A caller reported a theft of property. A deputy was advised. 7:43 p.m. Cowlitz County authorities requested assistance in locating a mentally ill woman who had left on a walk nine hours previously near the Wahkiakum/Cowlitz border and never returned. A deputy drove through the area but was unable to locate the subject. Authorities determined that she may have headed for Longview. 10:12 p.m. A caller reported that two horses were out along Elochoman Valley Road.
May 14— 4:46 a.m. The Grays River ambulance responded to aid an 85-year-old female who was experiencing vertigo and unable to walk. 9:21 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a 95-year-old woman who had fallen. 12:31 p.m. Puget Island firefighters responded to a residence with a strong smell of propane.
May 15— 4:32 a.m. Puget Island and Cathlamet firefighters responded to a vehicle fire on South Welcome Slough Road. 8:34 a.m. A caller reported that they had been threatened. A deputy investigated. 5:38 p.m. A caller reported finding a wallet on Main Street. A deputy returned the wallet to its owner. 7:42 p.m. A sexual assault was reported. 8:41 p.m. Grays River firefighters responded to a chimney fire along Grays River Cemetery Road. 9:13 p.m. A caller reported suspicious activity on their property. 8:38 p.m. A caller requested a civil standby while he picked up items from an ex-girlfriend. 11:10 a.m. A caller reported that two people were walking down the road and that they had turned off their flashlights when they saw the caller. A deputy advised that they were Search and Rescue personnel.
May 16— 1:30 a.m. Deputies, the Cathlamet ambulance and District 4 firefighters responded to a two-car motor vehicle accident west of County Line Park which injured three people.11:04 a.m. A caller reported that a bill payment he’d placed in his mailbox the previous day had been removed and was ripped up in his driveway. A deputy spoke with the caller.1:03 p.m. A caller reported that a possibly intoxicated individual was walking along SR 4. 3:31 p.m. A caller reported that a dangerous dog had wandered onto their property. Deputies were notified. 7:59 p.m. A caller reported that their dog had been injured during an attack by two other dogs. A deputy spoke with the caller. 8:05 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance and Skamokawa firefighters responded to aid a man who was possibly having a heart attack. 8:15 p.m. A caller reported that a family member had been assaulted. 11:49 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to treat a man who was ill.
May 17— 5:17 a.m. District 4 firefighters responded to a child care facility where a fire alarm was going off. They entered the building but found no fire. 6:11 a.m. District 4 firefighters responded to the same location for a fire alarm and again found no sign of fire. 7:11 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a 36-year-old woman with a dislocated shoulder. 4:21 p.m. Cathlamet firefighters were dispatched to clean up a trail of diesel fuel going up Columbia Street.
May 18—9:42 p.m. Three juveniles were apprehended by a deputy after climbing on the roof of City Hall. The deputy transported the juveniles back to their homes.
May 19— 12:56 p.m. A person flagged down a deputy to report that someone appeared to have broken into the subject’s vehicle. The deputy took a report. 1:27 p.m. A caller reported a water leak at an out-of-town neighbor’s residence. The PUD water crew was notified. 5:56 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a 78-year-old man experiencing breathing difficulties. 7:22 p.m. A caller reported a dispute with a teenage child and requested deputy contact.
May 20— 8:40 a.m. An 18-year-old was arrested for possessing drug paraphernalia and tobacco on school property. The subject was booked and released. 10:03 a.m. A caller reported that their children had been molested in the past. A deputy investigated.
