Geraldine “Jeri” Olsen

Geraldine “Jeri” Olsen, 82, of Longview, passed away on May 16 at Hospice Care Center.

Jeri was born March 5, 1931 in Cathlamet to Joseph and Julian (Longtain) Souvenir. She was raised in Cathlamet, graduating from Wahkiakum High School in 1948. In 1949 she married Carl Olsen and they moved to Longview in 1951. Carl preceded her in death in 1998.

They loved to travel and wintered in Arizona for 10 years after retirement. Together they enjoyed dancing and socializing.

Jeri also enjoyed flowers, gardening, needlepoint and quilting. All of her family members were blessed to receive her handmade quilts.

While she loved all sports, she especially enjoyed baseball, and was an avid Mariners fan. Jeri was a loving mom and grandma; she found great pleasure in watching her granchildren’s sporting events. She was a long time member of Emmanual Lutheran Church.

Jeri is survived by three sons and their wives, Mike and Randie Olsen, Ron and Denise Olsen and Dave and Denise Olsen; two daughters and their husbands, Carolyn and Barrett Kochis, and Debbie and Andy Frutchey; a brother, Gordon Souvenir and wife, Arlene; nine grandchildren and three great grandsons.

In addition to Carl she was preceded in death by her grandson, Christian Olsen in 1994, as well as three brothers and two sisters.

A funeral service will be held at Emmanuel Lutheran Church on May 30 at 1 p.m.
