Archive Center to show Finnish movie

The Finnish movie for May at the Appelo Archives Center, Tommy and the Wildcat (Poika ja Ilves), will be shown on May 25th at 11 a.m. The AAC is located at 1056 SR 4, two miles east of Naselle schools.

Directed by Raimo O. Niemi, the film was completed in 1998. It is about a 12 year old boy who moves to a small village in Lapland which was where his mother was raised. Before her death, she had worked to protect the local lynx. Tommy’s father is involved in a project to release a captive lynx into the wild. When his project fails, Tommy takes over and regains the trust and respect of his family and the village.

The film runs 101 minutes and is appropriate for youth. This version is dubbed into English. There is no admission charge.
