Sheriff's Report - May 16, 2013

Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including:

May 6—1:11 p.m. A caller reported a two-car motor vehicle accident along SR4 near the school access road. State Patrol responded. 4:46 p.m. A caller reported the possible theft of firearms. A deputy investigated. 11:19 p.m. A caller reported that someone had violated a protection order. 11:45 p.m. A caller reported that someone had a vehicle parked in a driveway with the headlights on, and that they were concerned about the person because they had a heart condition. A deputy checked on the person and found that they were fine.

May 7—8:16 a.m. A Puget Island caller reported that their neighbor’s elderly Weimaraner dog had run off. 8:57 a.m. A caller requested a welfare check. A deputy contacted the man. 9:11 a.m. A Puget Island caller reported that a bicycle had been left by the side of the road for two weeks. 10:34 a.m. A caller reported the theft of firearms and reported that a subject had stated that someone was going to get shot. Deputies took the subject into custody and recovered a weapon. 10:43 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to treat a woman who had fallen and broken her leg. 3:35 p.m. A Main Street business reported that someone had shoplifted and that the subject was still at the scene. 7:17 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a woman who was ill from possible food poisoning. 7:40 p.m. A caller reported that someone had cut buoy lines and crayfish pot lines. Fish and Wildlife and the Coast Guard were notified. 9:44 p.m. A caller reported that a truck had been parked at a park all day. A deputy was advised. 10:18 p.m. A caller reported that a car was driving into various driveways up and down their road, possibly checking to see if the occupants were around.

May 8—3:33 p.m. A caller reported a domestic disturbance. 4:31 p.m. A caller reported the theft of tools and a remote-controlled helicopter from their garage in the last week to 10 days. 7:24 p.m. A caller reported that their neighbor was out of control and requested that a mental health professional respond.

May 9—9:25 a.m. A caller reported that alcohol had been confiscated from WHS students the previous afternoon. 12:55 p.m. One person was taken into custody on a Department of Corrections warrant. 1:10 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to treat a woman with a third-trimester pregnancy and contractions. 4:15 p.m. A caller reported that a distraught-looking woman was walking along the road. State Patrol checked on her. 6:58 p.m. A caller reported harassment by a family member via telephone. Deputies were advised. 8:02 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to transport a 60-year-old man who was ill to the hospital. 8:39 p.m. A caller reported that someone had slashed the tires on an ATV. A deputy investigated.

May 10—5:18 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to treat a man with bladder and kidney problems. 1:48 p.m. A caller reported finding a large amount of garbage left at an Elochoman River bridge. A deputy was advised. 3:19 p.m. A deputy stopped a vehicle and recovered a stolen item. 4:45 p.m. A caller reported seeing a middle school-aged boy driving a car. 5:25 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to treat a man with a hand injury. 6:11 p.m. A caller reported that they had asked someone to leave the Main Street business they managed because the subject had been yelling and using profane language in front of children. A deputy made contact with the subject and warned them that if their behavior persisted, they would be banned from the store. 10:33 p.m. A caller reported that an unknown small female terrier dog had been hanging around their Cathlamet residence all day. A deputy was advised. 11:46 p.m. A caller reported additional telephone harassment by a family member. A deputy investigated.

May 11—6:11 a.m. A caller reported that their vehicle’s rear bumper had been damaged while on the ferry the previous day, and that the ferry personnel had advised the caller to report the matter to the sheriff’s office for documentation. 11:49 a.m. A caller reported that a family member had threatened the caller’s representative regarding violation of a restraining order. 2:09 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to treat a woman with high blood sugar. 2:26 p.m. A caller reported that a suspicious person was looking in the windows of residences. 4:03 p.m. Deputies, State Patrol, Cathlamet Ambulance, and District 4 firefighters responded to a motorcycle accident up the Elochoman Valley at Camp Two. A patient was transported via LifeFlight. 7:30 p.m. A caller reported that two horses were in the road. The horses’ owner was contacted. A deputy was advised.

May 12—7:51 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a 63-year-old man with breathing difficulties. 4:58 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a 93-year-old woman who had fallen and injured her back. 10:05 p.m. A caller reported that a yellow lab with a bad limp was wandering down a street. 10:50 p.m. A caller reported a car versus deer collision had caused a vehicle to go into a ditch.

May 13— 3:47 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid an 84-year-old man who had fallen and was unable to stand up. 10:16 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance was dispatched to a residence where a person with a Do Not Resuscitate order in place had gone into cardiac arrest. The coroner was notified.
