Sheriff's Report - May 9, 2013

Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including:

April 29— 5:04 p.m. A caller reported that they had been assaulted by a family member. The case was referred to the prosecuting attorney.

April 30—9:42 a.m. A caller reported that someone had vandalized road signs along Forest Heights road by shooting at them. 2:58 p.m. A caller reported that someone had destroyed a gate leading to their family’s property. A deputy investigated. 5:43 p.m. A caller reported that a rental property had been vandalized. A deputy was advised. 6:23 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a 92-year-old female who was feeling faint. 9:55 p.m. A caller reported hearing two rifle shots along the Elochoman Mainline. A deputy was advised.

May 1—1:24 p.m. A deputy pursued a motorcycle and stopped the cyclist along Spruce Creek Road. 1:46 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a 68-year-old man who had fallen. 3:23 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a 64-year-old man with chest pain. 4:43 p.m. A caller reported that a 10-foot aluminum skiff had washed ashore at Cape Horn. A deputy was notified. 5:10 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance and a mental health professional responded to aid a person having a mental health emergency. A deputy took a rifle into custody.

May 2—9:44 a.m. A caller reported that a dog was loose and that the dog had caused problems in the past. A deputy responded and shot the animal after it attacked him. 9:48 p.m. A caller reported that a car headed westbound from Stella was driving erratically and was possibly impaired. A deputy pulled the vehicle over at Boege Road and found that the driver was not under the influence of intoxicants.

May 3—6:58 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a 70-year-old man who had fallen. 8:42 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a woman with breathing problems. 8:49 a.m. A caller reported that a blown-out tire was blocking the eastbound lane of SR4 near the top of the hill west of County Line Park. State Patrol was notified. 12:28 p.m. A caller reported that a Wii console had been stolen from her home. A deputy was notified. 1:22 p.m. A caller reported being harassed. 4:13 p.m. A caller reported that a suspicious person was loitering outside their office and had circled the building several times. A deputy made contact. 6:45 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a woman who was near fainting. 7:20 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid an adult male who was complaining of chest pains. 11:57 p.m. Castle Rock police requested a deputy check on a possible protection order violation. The person was taken into custody at a traffic stop on May 4.

May 4— 7:45 a.m. A caller reported that the Rosburg Store was without electricity. The PUD was notified and replaced a transformer. 11:56 a.m. One person was taken into custody during a traffic stop for violating a protection order. 12:17 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a 52-year-old woman with abdominal pain who had recently had surgery. 12:59 p.m. A caller reported being harassed. A deputy investigated. 1:09 p.m. A caller reported a restraining order violation. 1:33 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to check on a person whose medical alert alarm had gone off and who was not answering the phone. 3:56 p.m. A caller reported that an 18-month-old Holstein steer had gone missing along East Valley Road. 4:31 p.m. A caller reported that they had found a four-wheeler in the Bradley Trails area that had likely fallen off the back of a vehicle. The owner of the four-wheeler was contacted. 6:19 p.m. A ring of keys was turned into the sheriff’s office after the key ring was found hanging from a post office box. The owner was located. 10:21 p.m. A caller reported hearing suspicious noises around their home and requested a deputy drive past. The deputy found nothing out of the ordinary in the area. 11:32 p.m. A caller reported that a person who had been drinking and was possibly intoxicated was driving eastbound on SR4 after leaving Cathlamet. State Patrol and Cowlitz dispatch were advised.

May 5—7:09 a.m. A caller reported that they were having a mental health emergency. A mental health professional responded. 11 a.m. A caller reported that people were blowing grass into the road after mowing their lawns. 12:51 p.m. A caller reported being harassed. A deputy investigated. 12:54 p.m. A caller reported possible drug activity at a business. 2:21 p.m. The Skamokawa and District 4 fire departments responded to a brush fire along West SR4. 4:01 p.m. District 4 firefighters responded to a brush fire along Mill Creek Road.

May 6—8:15 a.m. A caller reported that patrons of a neighboring business were trespassing and parking on their property. A deputy investigated and took one person into custody.
