Sheriff's Report - May 2, 2013

Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including:

April 22— 12:06 p.m. The Grays River ambulance responded to treat a 96-year-old man with foot pain. 3:38 p.m. A driver was issued a criminal citation after a road rage incident between two vehicles. 7:58 p.m. A caller reported that their neighbor had observed two men repeatedly driving in and out of the caller’s property the previous night. 8:51 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a 60-year-old man with respiratory difficulties.

April 23— 8:16 a.m. A caller reported that someone had dumped garbage off a logging road in Middle Valley. DNR and Fish and Wildlife were notified. 10:59 a.m. A caller reported that a vehicle had been abandoned in their driveway. 2:31 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to the residence of a woman whose medical assistance alarm had activated. The woman was not in need of assistance and was unaware that the alarm had gone off. 4:05 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to treat a 60-year-old woman who had fallen and sustained lacerations to her head. 6:04 p.m. A caller reported an instance of trespassing. 9:45 p.m. The Grays River ambulance was dispatched to transport a 67-year-old man with pneumonia complications to a hospital. The man declined ambulance transport and went via private vehicle.

April 24— 7:59 a.m. A caller reported that they had observed an injured hawk 500 feet south of the wildlife refuge viewing station. A wildlife rehab center was notified. 9:21 a.m. A caller reported a burglary at their shop. Two motorcycles and tools were taken. 10:23 a.m. A caller reported receiving harassing calls stating that he would be arrested for an outstanding payday loan. A deputy made contact and explained that it was a civil matter for which the caller could not be criminally arrested. 4:31 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid an 83-year-old man with bleeding ulcers. 6:50 p.m. A caller reported that a 15- or 16-year-old girl was at the city park with a 21-year-old man. A deputy responded and found no probable cause for arrest. 9:49 p.m. A caller reported that a vehicle that had been stopped by State Patrol hours earlier was still on his property and requested that it be removed. State Patrol was advised.

April 25— 10:11 a.m. Dispatch was notified that soldiers from Fort Lewis would be conducting training exercises later in the day at the Oneida Road boat ramp. 4:04 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a 30-year-old woman who was ill. 4:57 p.m. A caller reported that two kids, one on a bicycle and one on a four-wheeler, had been racing down a hilly road and almost ran into a bus. The call was referred to Cowlitz County due to the location of the incident. 6:56 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to treat a 60-year-old man with chest pain.

April 26— 12:52 a.m. A caller reported a civil dispute related to the possession of a vehicle. 6:38 a.m. Deputies and the Grays River ambulance responded to aid a man having a mental health emergency. 10:09 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a 45-year-old woman with breathing issues. 11:39 a.m. One person was taken into custody after deputies pulled over a vehicle that had been reported as stolen. 1:02 p.m. Deputies executed a search warrant and recovered two firearms and ammunition. 3:52 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to transfer a person with mobility issues from a vehicle to a residence. 4:08 p.m. A caller reported hearing that juveniles would be having a party at a Brookfield location later in the evening. Deputies were advised. 11:09 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to assist a person who requested help with medical equipment. 11:33 p.m. A caller reported observing someone smoking something in a vehicle pulled over on a wildlife refuge road. A deputy was unable to locate the vehicle.

April 27— 8:12 a.m. A woman reported that her large long-haired gray female cat with white paws and green eyes was missing from a residence on Second Street. 10:02 a.m. One person was taken into custody after the theft of an iPhone and food stamp card. 11:04 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to assist an 80-year-old man with breathing difficulties.

April 28— 1:47 a.m. A caller reported that their neighbors were playing loud music. A deputy was advised. 12:28 p.m. A caller reported that their skateboard had been stolen from a Main Street location. 12:47 p.m. A mental health professional was called to assist a person with mental health issues. 2:20 p.m. A caller requested a welfare check on a 95-year-old man who had injured himself the previous week. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to transport the man to a hospital and Puget Island firefighters responded to investigate a gas smell. 3:46 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid an 80-year-old man who was having a seizure.

April 29— 8:35 a.m. A caller reported the theft of items totaling $450 in value from a boat moored at a local marina.
