Tigers devour Mules in doubleheader

Last week, the Mule Softball team moved a regularly scheduled Thursday game up a day due to the weather forecast.

The young team lost to Napavine 19-0 in the first game of the double header. Dallas Gott pitched until she was leveled by a line drive to the knee. Haylee Budd hit a double; Tori Wegdahl, who replaced Gott on the mound, had a single, as did Shanna Havens.

The second game proved to be as much a heartbreaker as the first, the team losing to Napavine 17-0. Tori Wegdahl hit a triple, but no one was able to bring her home.

“We were only down by five going into the fourth inning, then the wheels came off,” said Coach Cindy Fudge.

Fudge commended Morgan Elliott for her defensive play. “[She] was outstanding…[she] stepped in for the injured Sammi Boyce…just played amazing.”

The Mules are at Morton/White Pass today (Thursday) and entertain Toutle Lake next Tuesday.
