The Cathlamet Woman’s Club was so excited about Earth Day that we had Richard Bigler, our county garbage collector, come talk with us about recycling. The Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr. said, “If I cannot do great things, I can do small things in a great way.” Recycling is one small thing we can do to make our community a better place to live.
Everyone enjoyed Richard’s informative talk about recycling plastics #1 and #2, using the bin windows that are already opened, not putting plastic bags in the bins, taking glass to KM Mountain, and making sure the recycling goes in the bins instead of on the ground. Richard came dressed for work and he was eager to get back to his job, but he answered every question in a friendly and serious way.
The Woman’s Club will take part in Bald Eagle Day the third week in July, where we will also be honoring Wally Wright, the Citizen of the Year. Our Tour of Homes is the second Saturday in August. We have many things planned and we love new ideas. Come meet with us on the first Tuesday of every month at noon. We meet upstairs in the Hotel Cathlamet and lunch is provided.
