Spring officially comes to Puget Island this weekend, starting with the first 2013 dog racing (lure coursing) event on Saturday and Sunday. The Willamette Valley Basenji Club will sponsor AKC Lure Coursing at Misty Rivers Plantation at 117 Cross Dike Rd.
AKC registered sight hounds only will be running at this event. The dogs will run regardless of weather. Roll call is at 8 a.m. each day with test runs shortly thereafter. Racing trials will begin after test runs are completed.
Admission and parking (out front) are free. Some seating is available, but people are welcome to bring their own chairs. Leashed family dogs are welcome to join the spectators. Restrooms and some handicapped parking will be available. Lunch is a potluck.
