Sheriff's Report - March 21, 2013

Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of other reports during the past week, including:

March 12-- 6:37 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid an elderly man who had fallen. 9:44 a.m. A caller reported grass clippings on Middle Valley Road. The county road department was notified. 12:07 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid an elderly man who was unresponsive. 2:24 p.m. A caller reported that a log truck was partially blocking the eastbound lane of SR4 midway up the westside of KM Mountain. 2:49 p.m. A caller reported that they would be blasting explosives in a Skamokawa rock pit. 3:20 p.m. One person was taken into custody after a theft was reported at Wahkiakum High School. 5:57 p.m. A caller reported that several elk had died recently in East Valley and that others looked sick. WDFW was advised.

March 13-- 5:50 a.m. A caller reported that a dead deer was blocking the eastbound lane of SR4 a half-mile east of County Line Park. DOT was advised. 9:41 a.m. The Cathlamet Ambulance responded to aid a man who was bleeding from his leg. 1:12 p.m. A caller reported finding a discrepancy in a prescription that had been filled at a Longview pharmacy. A deputy made contact and advised her to make contact with Longview police. 3:49 p.m. A caller reported that someone had run into her vehicle and left the scene.

March 14-- 6:37 p.m. District 4 fire personnel reported that they had set up a mock accident scene for training purposes at the three mile marker on Elochoman Valley Road. 9:30 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a woman having heart issues.

March 15-- 12:06 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a 71-year-old man who had fallen. 4:57 a.m. A caller reported that two people driving a car with out-of-state plates were loitering at a church. State Patrol was notified. 9:34 a.m. A caller reported that an off-road vehicle had torn up a field at a county shop. A deputy located a subject who then confessed to committing the crime. 2:11 p.m. A caller reported finding an unused blasting cap in the middle of the 1000 Line off Middle Valley Road. A WSP bomb squad was dispatched from Olympia. 6:25 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a woman with back pain. 11:22 p.m. A caller reported that she and her boyfriend had been assaulted at a party earlier in the evening.

March 16-- 1:09 a.m. A caller reported an in-progress altercation between two men at a Main Street location. A deputy responded. 6:12 p.m. A caller reported a possible case of fraud. A deputy investigated. 7:14 p.m. A woman reported that she had been assaulted by a family member. One person was taken into custody. 10:53 p.m. A caller reported that cattle were loose on Covered Bridge Road. The owners were contacted. A deputy assisted in rounding up the animals.

March 17-- 9:03 a.m. A caller reported that her teenage child had stolen alcohol from their home the previous night. A deputy investigated. 11:07 a.m. A non-injury single vehicle accident was reported along SR4 near the Brooks Slough boat launch. 11:55 a.m. A caller reported that someone had trespassed on their property. 4:50 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a man who had fallen. 7:55 p.m. A caller reported the theft of a chainsaw. 8:50 p.m. A passenger fled the scene of a traffic stop along SR4 near the former Shell station.
