Sheriff's Report - March 14, 2013

Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of other reports during the past week, including:

March 4—10:20 a.m. A caller reported being threatened by a family member. 11:13 a.m. One person was taken into custody during a traffic stop. 11:26 a.m. A caller reported that a person in camouflage was walking by a neighbor’s driveway. 11:31 a.m. A caller reported that an animal was stuck in her woodstove. 11:36 a.m. A caller reported the theft of a bag of medications. 12:19 p.m. A caller reported that the animal had returned to her woodstove. 1:59 p.m. A caller reported the theft of items at the District 4 fire station. 3:57 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance, District 4 firefighters, and deputies responded to the scene of a one car motor vehicle accident at the intersection of SR4 and Jacobson Road.

March 5—6:42 a.m. A caller reported that their Jack Russell terrier was missing from their home on Loop Road. The dog was wearing a pink collar. 8:40 a.m. A caller requested a welfare check on an employee who had not arrived for work. 1:03 p.m. A caller reported that their rottweiler mix dog had been missing from their home on Barr Road since February 27.

March 6—5:26 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid an 83-year-old woman who had activated a medic alarm after falling. 5:33 p.m. Corrections staff reported that a county jail inmate had damaged a phone.

March 7—1:36 a.m. A caller reported that a rock slide at Stella had closed both lanes of SR4. A state trooper cleared the rocks from the roadway. 9:15 a.m. A caller reported that someone had attempted to break into their garage the previous night. 9:40 a.m. The Grays River ambulance responded to aid a 71-year-old woman who was having difficulty swallowing. 1:37 p.m. Firefighters from Skamokawa, Cathlamet, District 4, and Puget Island and the Cathlamet ambulance responded to a report of an electrical fire at the Duck Inn restaurant in Skamokawa. A malfunctioning jukebox was found to be at blame. 6:46 p.m. A deputy took one person into custody after a reported theft of a pellet gun from a Longview business.

March 8—10:01 a.m. A caller requested assistance with preparing abandoned property paperwork on a vehicle that had been left by a former tenant. 2:41 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a man with chest pain. 4:33 p.m. A caller reported a case of possible identity theft. 4:35 p.m. A high school staff member requested contact with a deputy after determining that a student had brought alcohol to school.

March 9—12:09 a.m. A caller reported hearing a very low flying plane near Oneida Road. 2:24 a.m. A caller reported that a fallen tree was blocking both lanes of SR4 near Loop Road. State Patrol was notified. 8:21 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a woman who required transport to a hospital.

March 10—12:44 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a man experiencing a diabetic emergency. 11:17 a.m. The Grays River ambulance responded to aid a woman injured in a one-car motor vehicle accident at the Crooked Creek bridge.

March 11—7:30 a.m. Wahkiakum PUD responded to repair downed power lines along SR4 at Chester Street. The road was cleared by 7:53 a.m. 8:16 a.m. A caller reported that money had been taken from their bank account in November 2012. The case was referred to Multnomah County. 10:38 a.m. A caller reported that a neighbor’s dog was trespassing on their property. 12:22 p.m. A caller reported that their neighbor’s dogs had barked all night. 2:01 p.m. A caller reported that an animal had attacked one of their sheep the previous night. 3:39 p.m. A caller reported that teenagers were going into vacant homes in their neighborhood. 5:30 p.m. A caller reported that they had lost their gray Samsung cell phone on Puget Island.
