Established as The Skamokawa Eagle in 1891
It all started way back in time when someone got tired of packing around items to trade for what they needed. Things they did not have and could not grow or make themselves. Along comes some over-achiever (who shall remain nameless) with the bright idea to get everyone in their area to agree that something small and easy to carry represented the goods they were tired of packing around. From then on life became easier and the basic idea of money was established.
Money was and is an agreed upon medium of exchange.
A problem entered the universe of money when someone else convinced others money was a commodity and had value unto itself. (Cue the theme song from Outer Limits). To keep a long story short that was the beginning of the demise of money as a medium of exchange.
For those who are actually reading what I have to offer, fret not, I will not leave you hanging with regards to the above. I have already written it but it was way too long to print in the space The Eagle has so graciously made available. Stay tuned!
