Finnish trio to perform

 On Tuesday, March 12, at 7:00 p.m. the PKH Trio will perform at Peace Lutheran Church in Astoria. The PKH Trio performs folk music from the coastal area between Vasa and Kokkola in Finland, interspersed with some international tunes and solos by Pia Karin Helsing, who is an accomplished soprano in her own right. Members of this group have studied and performed extensively both in Finland and Sweden.

Pia Karin Helsing plays the cello and violin. Görel Särs plays accordion, piano, and guitar. Cay Nyqist, composer, plays percussion and clarinet.

Tickets are $10 for adults; $8 for seniors (60+) and for members of the sponsoring organizations; free for those 18 and younger. They can be purchased at Finn Ware in Astoria, Appelo Archives Center in Naselle or at the door.

The sponsors for the PKH Trio are the Finnish American Folk Festival of Naselle, the UFKB&S Lodge No. 2 and the Vasa Lodge of Astoria. Also, the Barbro Osher Pro Suecia Foundation, Finlandia Foundation National, and Finlandia Foundation San Francisco Chapter are sponsors.
