Established as The Skamokawa Eagle in 1891
To The Eagle:
The volunteers and officers of Grays River Valley Fire and Rescue District #3 would like to thank Wahkiakum West for its generous donation of funds to purchase audiovisual equipment for the new Grays River Fire Hall.
As many of you know, the Grays River hall was damaged in flooding six years ago and was deemed unsafe and beyond repair. It has taken several years to acquire the funds and property necessary to build the new hall on high ground in Grays River. That new facility should be completed in the coming weeks.
We needed modern audiovisual equipment to conduct training for both our volunteers and for the community at the hall. While we took pride in the new state-of-the art facility taking shape in Grays River, we lacked the funds needed to purchase technology that would make our facility a great center for teaching and training firefighters and EMTs in the years ahead.
Wahkiakum West stepped up and donated the needed funds. Wahkiakum West has always been a strong supporter of our EMS and Fire services here in the Grays River Valley. In years past they have donated both equipment and services with quiet magnanimity. They have been consistently instrumental in helping us maintain emergency services on the West end of the county.
Like the volunteer that comes to your house when you call 911, they have been there for us when we needed them.
So we take this opportunity to thank Wahkiakum West once more for its generosity as well as the ongoing involvement as part of the emergency services team.
Rick Ballif, EMS Chief Wah. Fire Dist. #3
Ed Hunt, Training Officer Wah. Fire Dist. #3
