Writer sends Valentine’s Day wishes

Happy Valentine’s Day to all the Eagle readers and staff. I feel very blessed this day for the love of family and friends. These past few months have not been the most wonderful of my life but things are certainly looking up. Thank you, everyone, for all your good thoughts, deeds, prayers and encouragement after my husband’s stroke. He is making wonderful progress in his recovery, but we still have a long road ahead. Today, I wish everyone much love and happiness in return for all that you have given us.

News from Naselle:

There will be no school on Monday to observe Presidents Day.

Members of the Naselle-Grays River Valley School Board will meet on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.

Other news from the Westend:

According to Wahkiakum County Engineer Pete Ringen, geotechnical boring is scheduled at the Loop Road slide location in Grays River today (Thursday). The road crew will move the concrete barricades out in advance so the drill rig has access. The barricades will be returned to their current location following completion of the boring. Please drive with extra caution in the area.

The Grays River United Methodist Church’s Friendship Circle will be serving their Stew Lunch & Bazaar on February 23 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. If you haven’t tasted this delicious beef stew, cheese bread, beverage and dessert prepared and served by the members of the Friendship Circle, now’s your chance. And if you have, you won’t want to miss it this year. A freewill donation will be appreciated. Take-out orders are available. Call-in orders are also welcome on the day of the event by calling 465-2391.

They will also have baked goods, hand crafted items, original artwork and some resale items all marked at reasonable prices for sale in the church and social hall. Everyone is welcome, and I encourage you to take advantage of this wonderful meal.

The church is located on State Route 4 near Milepost 18 on the hill above the Grays River Café. For information on the day of the event, phone 465-2740.
