Cary recognized for service

Cathlamet resident Dan Cary, center, recently received an Auxiliary Commandant Letter of Commendation Award from the commandant of the 13th Coast Guard District. The award recognizes Cary as a volunteer who has served the past year as a fishing vessel dockside examiner and who has qualified as a marine safety drill conductor. The letter of commendation said Cary's service will provide life saving training that will improve "local fishermen's odds of coming home safely to their families." L-r are Capt.
