Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including:
January 29—7:06 a.m. A power outage caused by a fallen tree was reported along Mill Road. A PUD crew responded. 9:57 a.m. A caller reported that a young person was standing on the Puget Island bridge and looking over the side. 10:02 a.m. A Rosburg resident reported finding a coyote in their garage. A wildlife agent was notified. 12:11 p.m. A caller reported that their child was having inappropriate video exchanges with an adult over the Internet. 1:51 p.m. A caller requested a welfare check on an elderly female whose residence’s door was open. 4:39 p.m. A caller reported a boulder with a two-foot diameter was obstructing the westbound lane of SR4 at Milepost 40.5. 7:58 p.m. A juvenile male was taken into custody after expressing suicidal thoughts and making threats.
January 30—8:03 a.m. A caller reported ongoing harassment. 1:40 p.m. A caller reported the theft of a purse from their vehicle. 2:11 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a woman who was ill.
January 31--- 8:47 a.m. A caller reported that a dog that had bit her children in the past was chasing her children as they boarded the school bus. The dog’s owner agreed to keep it inside. 10:01 a.m. A caller reported a possible burglary after noticing the door to a stored travel trailer was open. A deputy investigated but found nothing taken and no signs of forced entry. 6:00 p.m. A caller reported that a man appeared to be passed out in a parked vehicle. A deputy investigated and found that the man was waiting for his wife. 9:41 p.m. A caller reported difficulty in accessing their property using an easement on a neighbor’s property. A deputy investigated and concluded that it was a matter for civil court.
February 1—12:44 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a person with a back injury. 3:17 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a 74-year-old female with breathing difficulty. 8:09 a.m. A caller reported that someone had broken into his vehicle and taken a stereo, cell phone and other items. A deputy investigated.
February 2—1:13 p.m. The town water crew responded to a report of a water leak. 9:07 p.m. A caller reported that a dead deer was obstructing both lanes of SR4 near County Line Park.
February 3—6:45 p.m. A caller reported that her ex-husband was sending harassing text messages. A deputy investigated and the caller was referred to court for a no contact order.
February 4—12:49 p.m. A caller reported the theft of lumber with an estimated value of $500. A deputy investigated. 6:31 p.m. A caller reported that a suspicious person had been looking through a window, but had left the area and headed towards a neighbor’s home. A deputy was advised.
