Established as The Skamokawa Eagle in 1891
The musical play Hitchin' opens February 7 at the Clatsop Community College Performing Arts Center (PAC), with local folk group Brownsmead Flats as the orchestra. The six performances of the play are a fundraiser for the PAC.
Hitchin’, written by Ned Heavenrich of Brownsmead Flats, had its debut at the PAC in 1997. The play tells the story of a young man’s adventures, the colorful characters he encounters and his trials and growth as he hitchhikes from the Midwest to the West Coast during the upheaval of the early 1970s.
Performances are at 7:30 p.m. on February 7, 8, 9, 15, and 16, and at two p.m. on February 17. Ticket prices are $15 with a reduced price of $10 for students and seniors.
Tickets are available at SupportThePAC.org or at the door on performance nights. The Performing Arts Center is located at 16th and Franklin in Astoria and doors open 30 minutes before the show.
