Sheriff's Report - January 31, 2013

Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including:

January 21— 10:19 a.m. A caller reported the theft of a cell phone. The phone was later recovered and the case referred to juvenile authorities. 2:15 p.m. A caller reported a car was in the ditch near the former Shell station. A tow company was notified. 5:25 p.m. A caller reported the possible theft of timber products from a Bradley Mountain location. The property owner was notified. 6:50 p.m. A caller reported that a collision with a deer had caused substantial damage to a county vehicle. State Patrol investigated. 8:29 p.m. A Rosburg resident reported that an unknown man had knocked on her door and was sitting on her deck. A deputy responded and took the man into custody.

January 22—9:48 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a 78-year-old Puget Island man that was ill and needed transport to the hospital. 1:59 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to Family Health Center to aid a person who was dizzy and vomiting blood.

January 23—A caller reported a broken water line in his home was causing flooding and that he was unable to locate the main turnoff. The city water crew was advised.

January 24—6:06 a.m. A caller reported hearing an in-progress domestic disturbance at a neighbor’s residence. A deputy responded and took one person into custody.

January 25-- 2:33 p.m. A caller reported that a check that had been stolen from her in Kelso had been cashed at a Cathlamet bank. 2:56 p.m. A Puget Island resident reported that people had been shooting towards his residence during the weekends and requested contact. 5:08 p.m. A caller reported the theft of gasoline on January 23 from a vehicle parked overnight at the county courthouse. 6:22 p.m. A Deep River resident called to report that he had given duck hunters permission to hunt on his property. 8:00 p.m. An Elochoman Valley resident reported that her dogs, a chocolate lab and a yellow dog both wearing green collars, had gone missing earlier in the day.

January 26-- 11:13 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid an adult female requesting ring removal. 11:46 a.m. One person was taken into custody after a traffic stop along SR4 near Abe Creek. 5:25 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a 29-year-old Puget Island man with chest pain.

January 27—11:52 p.m. A caller reported that he had lost his wallet at the Elochoman Marina the previous day. 3:05 p.m. A caller reported that horses and cattle at an Elochoman Valley residence appeared emaciated. The Humane Society was advised.
