Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including:
January 14—11:45 a.m. A caller reported a truant juvenile. The teen was located at a Cathlamet apartment. 3:39 p.m. A caller reported that controlled burning would be occurring all week at the site of the new water treatment plant.
January 15—2:47 p.m. A caller reported that a loose dog kept coming onto her property. 4:33 p.m. A caller from the same neighborhood reported two loose dogs wandering the area.
January 16—10:47 a.m. A non-injury vehicle accident was reported on East Birnie Slough Road. 5:43 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a sick person. 6:36 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a 69-year-old woman with breathing difficulties.11:17 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a woman with cellulitis who was feeling dizzy.
January 17—12:22 a.m. A caller reported hearing loud explosions coming from west of her residence. An officer investigated. It was later determined that the sounds were caused by a collapsing porch. 3:21 a.m. A caller reported that a log truck had hit an elk and rolled over west of County Line Park. The Cathlamet ambulance, District 4 firefighters, deputies, and State Patrol responded to the scene. 3:20 p.m. A caller reported that a juvenile was in possession of stolen credit cards. A deputy investigated.
January 18—2:27 p.m. A caller reported that a loose dog was trying to burrow into her yard.
January 19—4:54 a.m. A caller reported squatters were living at a Skamokawa residence. A deputy investigated in the morning and found that all doors and windows to the home were secured and the house appeared to be empty. The caller called back at 1:55 p.m. to report that a car was at the house and windows were open. 7:27 a.m. A caller reported that hunters were shooting BBs at their house from boats. State Patrol was notified. The caller called back at 8:31 a.m. to say the shooting had resumed. 8:38 a.m. The Grays River ambulance responded to aid an 87-year-old female experiencing a possible stroke. 8:44 a.m. The Grays River ambulance responded to aid a man with an unknown health problem. 2:15 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a woman with breathing difficulties.
January 20—1:07 a.m. A caller reported that medications and her vehicle’s signed title were missing from its glove box. She was advised to apply for a lost title. 1:24 a.m. A deputy reported seeing a pickup canopy and possible accident debris alongside Elochoman Valley Road. It was determined that no accident had been reported. 4:14 a.m. The Grays River ambulance responded to aid a 91-year-old male who had fallen.
