Sheriff's Report - January 17, 2013

Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including:

January 7—5:25 a.m. A caller reported a tree was blocking one lane of West Birnie Slough Road. The county road department was notified. 1:26 p.m. The Grays River ambulance responded to aid a man having a seizure. 8:11 p.m. A water outage was reported on East Little Island Road. The PUD water crew was notified. 8:25 p.m. A caller reported that a child had been left home alone and requested a deputy drive past the residence.

January 8—5:24 a.m. A caller reported that a power generator was violating a noise ordinance. The residence was determined to be outside the city limits, the area where the noise ordinance is enforced. 11:35 a.m. The Grays River ambulance responded to aid a man with low blood pressure. 1 p.m. A caller requested a deputy retrieve a handgun and a shotgun for safekeeping.

January 9—8:46 a.m. The Grays River ambulance responded to aid a 92-year-old female experiencing a possible stroke. 9:13 a.m. The Superior Court Clerk’s office reported receiving an unlawfully issued bank check. 10:11 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a 66-year-old male experiencing a possible stroke.

January 10—11:26 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to the medical clinic to aid a 37-year-old female with chest pain.

January 11—8:53 a.m. A 92-year-old female was found deceased. 11:49 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid an adult female with breathing difficulties. 1:10 p.m. A caller reported a water pipe had broken at a former nursing home. The city water crew responded. 1:37 p.m. The Grays River ambulance responded to aid a 25-year-old male with hip injuries from a falling rock. 8:59 p.m. Town Public Works staff advised the Sheriff’s Office that the pool of water from the earlier pipe break could make Columbia Street very icy. 9:53 p.m. A caller reported receiving harassing text messages.

January 12—10:08 a.m. The Grays River ambulance responded to aid a 72-year-old female with mobility difficulties. 3:52 p.m. A caller reported possible poaching of elk. 6:06 p.m. A caller reported that they had hit a deer with their vehicle. The county road crew was advised.

January 13—7:28 a.m. A caller reported juveniles were shooting near the caller’s residence. 9:01 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a 37-year-old female with a headache. 1:08 p.m. A caller reported water running out of an apartment building and onto the street. The building’s owner was contacted and explained that the basement had flooded and that he was pumping out the water. 3:53 p.m. A caller reported that a bull elk with hoof rot had collapsed along SR4 near Deep River. A deputy investigated and found that the elk had walked away. 4:43 p.m. A caller requested that a deputy give an intoxicated person a ride home from a local bar. 7:21 p.m. A caller reported that she had received a broken-off cell phone call from someone who was driving and was concerned that a traffic accident had occurred. The driver was located and it was determined that no traffic accident had occurred.

January 14—The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a 77-year-old male with possible heart problems.
