Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including:
December 31—12:08 a.m. A caller reported that a homeless man was on the sidewalk. The caller was told that a deputy would be contacted, but that they could not make him move from the sidewalk. 5:49 p.m. A caller reported a possible drunk driver was headed westbound on SR4 near the school access road. 7:30 p.m. The Grays River ambulance responded to aid a 65-year-old male experiencing a possible stroke.
January 1—12:12 a.m. A caller reported hearing a loud explosion that set off a car alarm near the Skamokawa fire hall. A deputy investigated, but found nothing in the area. 9:24 a.m. A caller reported that their vehicle had been stolen from a Cathlamet address. The vehicle was recovered later that morning in the Elochoman Valley.
January 2—3:21 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a bleeding man with a possible broken arm. 10:08 a.m. The Puget Island fire department responded to a chimney fire on West Sunny Sands Road. 12:08 p.m. Pacific County law enforcement required assistance with locating a driver headed westbound on SR4 who had left a Naselle gas station without paying for $65 of fuel. Deputies were unable to locate the vehicle. 12:10 p.m. A caller reported that a safe had been dumped at the turnaround at Nassa Point. 4:32 p.m. The Superior Court Clerk’s Office reported that someone had written the office a bad check. 8:29 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a woman vomiting blood. 9:51 p.m. A driver reported that a man walking in the westbound lane of SR4 two miles west of Grays River was not visible to traffic. State Patrol was advised.
January 3—9:42 a.m. A caller reported that an unlocked car had been parked at the Westport ferry landing for over a week. Clatsop County law enforcement was advised. 12:43 p.m. A caller reported that their credit card had been fraudulently used on December 27. 2:36 p.m. A caller reported someone was trying to sell furniture out of the back of a van. A deputy was advised.
January 4—10:44 a.m. A caller reported that her teenage son had violated his probation by staying out all night, had injured the caller’s hand, and was driving a relative’s vehicle without a license. The subject was located and arrested. 4:44 p.m. A caller reported that she was being harassed. A deputy investigated. 6:44 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a 78-year-old male who was ill. 7:13 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to Wahkiakum High School to aid a 16-year-old female with a possible head injury.
January 5—9:53 a.m. A caller reported that people were trespassing. 9:59 a.m. The Cathalamet ambulance responded to aid a 68-year-old male with possible broken ribs after a fall. 5:40 p.m. A caller reported that six teenagers were walking in the roadway along SR409 and were not visible to traffic. A deputy made contact and advised the teens not to walk in the roadway. 6:09 p.m. A caller reported a person was knocking at their back door. A deputy responded but was unable to locate the subject. 7:18 p.m. The Grays River ambulance responded to aid a semi-conscious man with pneumonia. 11:15 p.m. The Cathlamet Ambulance responded to aid a 68-year-old female who had fallen.
January 6—9:50 a.m. The Grays River ambulance responded to aid a woman experiencing a diabetic emergency. 4:46 p.m. A caller reported that they had heard fireworks or possible explosions in the vicinity of the Deep River sorting yard.
